The economic landscape is changing every moment and with it, new opportunities for our workforce develop. What will autonomous cars, virtual reality, and next-generation robotics mean to our students today as they become active participants in the economy?
Today’s learners are meeting the challenge of innovating at a rapid pace by engaging in career technical education coursework that provides the foundational knowledge and industry-specific tools necessary to create solutions and to explore tomorrow’s technological advancements. Further, they are considering the human experience – a critical dimension to each industry’s growth.
In the William S. Hart Union High School District, students can begin exploring careers early through classes in junior high and using Naviance, a web-based program full of tools and assessments to help students identify their interests, related career options, and post-secondary education. In high school, students can select career pathways to participate in ranging from the health sciences to engineering to project management. We offer opportunities to engage in work-based learning through job shadowing, internships, and field trips as part of our curricula. Most importantly, we provide critical connections to all subject areas through our career preparation courses, lending relevance while providing rigorous support.
At Golden Oak Adult School, we provide adult learners with courses that lead to personal and professional growth including career-related classes in Medical Assisting, Pharmacy Technician, and more. We have classes that support students pursuing their U.S. citizenship as well as English as a Second Language and High School Diploma.
