Nicole McInteer is a college student at College of the Canyons in Valencia, Ca. She is preparing to become a Nuclear Pharmacist, where she will dispense cancer-fighting medications for those afflicted with the disease. In preparation, she is taking general ed classes at College of the Canyons and is also a student at Golden Oak Adult School. After completing the 18-week Pharmacy Technician career training program, she sat for the ExCPT Exam in earning a national pharmacy certification. The program provided her with the requirements necessary to apply for her State Pharmacy Technician License. Nicole is currently externing at Walgreens Pharmacy in the final phase of the Golden Oak Pharmacy Technician program. The externship is providing Nicole the opportunity to apply the skills she learned in the classroom in a real world setting, while making connections with potential employers. “I want to maximize my earning power while working my way through college,” Nicole shared. “I chose Golden Oak Adult School because it was affordable and close to home.”
Pharmacy Technicians can earn as much as $20 per hour, have flexible hours, and learn skills to advance in the medical field which is one of the fastest growing industry sectors in Santa Clarita.
